Introduction to UGC-NET(JRF)

UGC NET Dec 2018: National Testing Agency  (NTA) will conduct UGC NET (Dec) 2018 for eligibility for Assistant Professor only or Junior Research Fellowship & Eligibility for Assistant Professor both in December 2018. NTA National Eligibility Test (NET) is conducted on behalf of UGC to determine the eligibility of candidates for the eligibility for Assistance Professor only or Junior Research Fellowship & eligibility for Assistant Professor both in Universities and Colleges.

NTA has made a slight change in the mode of conducting the exam. Previously, UGC NET was conducted in offline mode but from December 2018, the exam will be conducted in online mode.  The syllabus exam pattern, fees structure and language of the paper will remain same as previous year.

NTA National Eligibility Test (NET) is conducted on behalf of UGC to determine the eligibility of candidates for the eligibility for Assistance Professor only or Junior Research Fellowship & eligibility for Assistant Professor both in Universities and Colleges.

Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

  • The candidate must secure at least 55% marks (without rounding off) in Masters Degree or equivalent exam from the UGC recognised Universities / Institutes.
  • 50 % marks (without rounding off) for OBC belonging to non-creamy layer / SC / ST / PwD candidate.
  • Students pursuing Master Degree or those who have appeared for the final exam in qualifying master Degree or waiting for the result can apply for the exam. These students will be admitted provisionally and they will be eligible for JRF / eligibility for Assistant Professor only after qualifying the Master’s Degree r equivalent exam with 50 % marks for OBC (Non-Creamy layer / SC/ ST/ PwD) and 55% for general candidates. They must complete the master degree within the 2 years of declaration of UGC NET 2018 result.
  • The transgender candidate is eligible for relaxation in age, fee and qualifying criteria is similar to SC / ST / PwD categories.
  • The PhD candidate whose Master level exam was completed by 19th September 1991 will be eligible for a relaxation of 5% in aggregate marks.
  • Candidate should appear for the NET exam for the subject they have completed their graduation. If the subject is not available in the list then select the paper similar to it.

Exam Pattern

UGC NET Dec 2018 Exam Pattern

UGC NET Dec 2018 will be conducted in online mode.  The paper will be conducted in two sessions first session for the paper I and second session for paper II. The question will be objective type for 100 marks. The students will be awarded 2 marks for the correct answer. Check the table for exam pattern.

Success Mantras to Crack UGC-NET Exam

As per the official notification of NTA, the exam will commence on December 2018 and students have few months for the preparation of the exam. Here are tips for the preparation of the exam.

Study Time Table

Students should organize an effective study timetable. Divide the equal time for the preparation of the syllabus. Make a schedule for 05-06 hours of study per day. Create a checklist of the syllabus and their topics to study. Make a single timetable and organize the time for a break.

Syllabus

Students should have the good knowledge of the syllabus for the preparation of the exam. It helps the student to analyze the topic and allot the equal time to for each portion to cover for the exam. It is very necessary that students should be familiar with all the topics mentioned in the syllabus for the exam. It helps to utilize the time smartly. Makes the list of the syllabus and stick it near to study timetable.

Practice form  Mock Test 

As we know that NTA will conduct NET Dec-2018 in online mode, so it is necessary for the candidate to understand the exam environment. It is important that the candidate should be familiar with the computer-based test. For this candidate can take lots of mock tests. Students should try to understand the process of online test which will be beneficial for them on the day of the exam. And it will be useful in the practice or revision of the examination.

Practice Previous Year Question Paper

The preparation of the exam is incomplete without the revision of the topics. And the best way for the revision of the topics is solving the previous question paper. While solving the previous questions the student can over many topics. Students should set the timer for the 2 hours / 1 hours and solve the paper, doing so will help in managing the time and also improve their knowledge of the topics. Time Management is the most crucial part of the exam. Time Management require lots of discipline and an effective timetable for preparation. While making revision student should set the timer and try to solve the question within the time. Practising it on regular basis will help to manage the time and during the exam, the student will be able to solve the question and make the revision of the answer within the provided duration of the exam.
